Tramadol, a man made pain curer, works on the similar mechanism of morphine. It holds a bond with the receptor cells existing in brain which transmit and spreads the signal and sensation of pain across the body. But as all pain relievers carry a bit addiction, patients using tramadol may require it like other narcotics. It was officially approved by FDA in march, 1995.
There are some nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) which cure at the potential risk of internal bleeding as well as ulcers. But since Tramadol is not an NSAID, therefore, patients are completely safe from pre mentioned risks.
It comes in different versions as described below:
Tablets for immediate release: 50 mg.
Tablets for extended release: 100, 200, and 300 mg.
Capsule for extended release: 100, 200, 300 mg.
Available in purely generic state, tramadol needs to be kept in a container which is air tight and sealed. A suitable temperature, ranging from 15ºC to 30ºC is needed to store tramadol at room temperature. In United States, tramadol comes under brand names such as Conzip, Ultram and Ultram ER. One thing must be kept in mind that you cannot have access to tramadol unless you have a proper prescription from your doctor or any other health care professional.
Tramadol is available as tramadol 100mg and tramadol 50mg and is taken after every 4 to 6 hours to get immediate relief from pain. Maximum intake of tramadol must not be more than 400mg. initial level should be maintained at 25mg/day, brining an increment of 25mg to 50mg after every 3 days until it gets at 50 to 100mg/day for every 4 to 6 hours.
Mostly, doctors recommend only 100mg when it comes to extended release tablets but it may be enhanced by 100mg after every 5 days. However, quantity should stay within the limit of 300mg/day. Dose must be brought to 100 mg when converted from immediate to extended release. Such tablets are not chewed or crushed down rather swallowed as a complete whole. You can take tramadol with food or without food, as per it suits you.
Moderate and severe pains, both, are cured with the help of tramadol. But children of less than 12 years of age must not be exposed to tramadol. Moreover, it should also be avoided to cure pain after tonsils removal in children who are less than 18 years of age. Overweight teenagers who range 12-18 years and having breathing issues should not be exposed to it.
